The Fleurs Table

This is officially the last set of pics from Wednesday's event, but I had to showcase this gorgeous showpiece that Fleurs designed.  It was such a statement piece, it drew brides to it like a moth to a flame!
 You are looking at over 500 roses, plus peonies, rununculous, and magical dots of gloriosa lilies.......

NY Mag Re-Cap, Part 2

I am practically in tears because Jessy and the team from Fleurs did the MOST AMAZING flowers (both at their table AND for the event) and she didn't bring a camera and MY Photos of her tables are terribly blurry- apparently I needed to set for candlelight, but didn't.   Anyway, I'm going to track down photos, but here are some of amazing, inspirational photos from some vendors I hadn't met before and familiar faces.

Leslie of Mark Joseph Cakes showed the most lovely cakes. The yellow is soooo sweet.
Greenwich Jewelers wowed us with their amazing designs. They will also refurbish and re-design pieces.  Here is one of their gorgeous rings.  Mille Fiore created this amazing piece with cherry blossoms.... Cake Alchemy (they do that show on the food network, Ace of Cakes, I think? NO, i just checked her site and she is on AMAZING WEDDING CAKES) showcased some gorgeous creations, including this very cool tropical cake!  And, Colin Cowie lifestyle wowed me with Carnations (and made us feel good about using carnations at our table). 

At our Always a Bridesmaid table we raffled off a 10 Hour Consulting package AND I'm pleased to announce the lucky winner is Beckett Fabbie!  We'll be getting in touch with you ASAP!
Mayra and I love this event because we get to meet brides, AND meet new people and connect with our vendor friends. We get glammed up (thanks Luis for hooking me up. He's the greatest, and I recommend him strongly. He's at the Chanel counter at Saks and available for wedding day makeup) and My Hair and Makeup glammed Mayra up .

Setting a Table

Ladies, when you see them again, Kiss your florist!  Theirs is a thankless job.  No, seriously, for two years our little business also provided floral services to our clients and there are no words for how much pressure it is to prepare live (semi dying), imperfect items like flowers for a perfect events.  In addition to planning, it was all too much and we decided to leave the floral to more fearless hearts!  A peach rose isn't always the same shade of peach,  things don't always arrive as "alive" as you'd hoped, and, worst of the worst, sometimes the EXACT THING that you ordered, the thing that you desperately need to make it perfect, simply doesn't come.

That's what happened to us yesterday when, in an effort to showcase a beautiful table on a budget with the colorscheme of Peach, Gray and Navy, only 100 out of the 400 carnations that I ordered arrived to the market.  Luckily, the client was just us, but still, as they say on Project Runway, we had to "make it work".  The idea was for there to be a runner of peach on the table, accented by these rentable silver lamps.  created by peach carnations and then these glass charges would be enhanced by laying peach tulips under them.....  That's not exactly how it turned out. 

If you ever wonder how these table tops come about, usually we start with a color scheme (Mayra and I think Peach is going to be the new "hotness") or a theme (here,simple, budget chic) and then a trip to the rental facility.  We love Classic Party Rentals, and Julia, our rep there is full of great ideas.  I sent Anika over to photograph some different linens and chargers when Julia made the awesome suggestion of using the flowers under the glass plate.  Here are our play photos AND what we finally ended up with- we had to wrap the runners in navy ribbon and dot the arrangement with white carnations, BUT, everyone seemed to love it! (also, big thanks to Eclipse Entertainment for sending over that awesome Plasma to showcase our work).

NY Mag Re-Cap part 1

We had a blast and are just sort of getting the day started here after a ROUGH start this morning!  This was such a event....and, after our 5th time participating in this event, just as exciting as before... I'll have a behind the scenes post a little later. For now, us and our favorite, moustached Cake Artist, Ron Ben-Israel (he's just so cute!), the most amazing short dress from Gabriella New York and a fabulous destination wedding invite from Cheree Berry!
