I haven't heard a ton from brides out there having holiday weddings, but thought I'd post up some of my favorite drink recipes to pass onto your caterer, for holiday theme signature drinks:
Spiked Cider- what a great way to get the party started if your guests are coming in from out of the cold!
2 quarts apple cider
- 2 cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 shots apple brandy
- Optional garnishes: Mugs rimmed with sugar, orange twists, freshly grated nutmeg, or whipped cream
Heat cider with cloves and cinnamon. Pour a shot of apple brandy into a mug and fill with cider.
Hot Toddy- I wish I could meet and marry a man named Todd, so we could get married in January and I could enjoy a Punny and serve this drink. Perhaps someone out there can fulfill this fantasy for me.
1 oz (2 tablespoons) bourbon
1 tablespoon mild honey
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup boiling-hot water
Put bourbon, honey, and lemon juice in a 6-ounce mug. Top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved.
Spiked Cocoa- for the chocolate lovers out there- I've said it before and will say it again, a signature drink is not for cocktail hour alone. Why not make dessert a little more special.
1 cup milk
- 1 tsp. hot chocolate mix
- 1 tsp. coffee creamer
- 1 tsp. Maker’s Mark Kentucky Bourbon
For each person, heat a cup of milk to steaming. Remove from heat before bubbles begin to form around edge of saucepan. Into cup or mug, measure chocolate mix, coffee creamer and bourbon. Add hot milk; stir until well mixed.Recipe can be easily increased to serve any number of people.
