Planner's P.O.V: Lance & Rebecca at Studio 450

A job hazard of wedding planning is that when you have been working with a couple for a long time, especially a couple as awesome as Rebecca and Lance, you feel a tremendous amount of pressure for the day to be even better than perfect.  Mayra had been working with Lance and Rebecca, who own a lighting company named TinC, for the last 18 months.  The night before the wedding, she was sending me emails and I could sense the tension level.  "What's Wrong?" She said she'd just gone through the program and they thanked her..... right below thanking their parents.  Needless to say, when I arrived on Site the next morning, this was literally her face...
I was much less worried.  She's done an awesome job with the prep for the event and we had a great team in place.  But I knew it was just because she wanted everything to go perfectly.... Studio 450 is one of our favorite places to work because it completely transforms. Here is some before.... Including Tinc setting up and Salome from our team folding napkins and tucking menu cards.
The ceremony was on site, which meant that we basically had to "turn the room" around.... We'd hired a Mariachi for cocktail hour, and went to sweep them up to the roofdeck, where cocktails were happening.  The best moment of our day is probably when we see the bride and groom head down the aisle!!  In this case, there was still a ton to do..... Since Lance and Rebecca have their own lighting company, some of the guests were helping with the lighting transition!  I've never seen girls in dresses on trusses before!  Vanessa from Verde Flowers and her team did an amazing job with the flowers, which, set on top of the steel grey pintuck, looked both spring like and modern.

 Of course, the real star of the show was the lighting... which was amazing.  THey used a mix of squares and rectangles and we cut the room up a bit with some pipe drape, which of course, was lit.
Mayra had done such a great job and everyone was enjoying DJ Serious so very much.... well, the day ended great and Mayra was clearly very happy. The rest of the pics are up on our FACEBOOK page.

Decadent Deco Dream Wedding

Today seems to be a photography day, but I was SOO excited to get these photos, I had to share them IMMEDIATELY.

These are from a wedding that we did in August at Cipriani 23rd Street.  The bride and I worked tirelessly on each and every detail and it was, simply put, a blast.

It helps that they are adorable and that Christian Oth shot the photos.  Ron Ben-Israel did the cake, Charles at United Floral made us these awesome trees and my favorite ice guy, Joey Ice at Ice Fantasies made these awesome centerpieces.  Here is a "taste" of their wonderful wedding.  The rest of the shots from this wedding are up on our website.

Anna + Lib

These are my clients, Anna + Liberty, who were married in September during what I like to refer to as our "Musical Wedding Weekend".  We had a rare 2 weekend wedding (Friday and Sunday) and both couples were musically inclined.  I had a great time working both events and the photos of Anna + Lib's big day by Karen Mordechai really capture how special this couple are!
The ceremony and reception were at Smack Mellon.  Her dress is a bias-cut Jenny Packham.

Navy and Pink: Amanda's Real Wedding

A few months ago, we had an Always a Bridesmaid Yard Sale and I got to meet Amanda and her then fiance Kevin.  Amanda had written in with some questions so it was great getting to meet her face to face.  She picked up a few items and we chatted about her plans for her Navy and Pink wedding.  Well, I was thrilled to see how it all turned out.  Photos by Agaton Strom:

What a Gorgeous Wedding!

It makes my heart swell with joy when I see people I love doing things that they love to do and, ahem, that we encouraged.  Our good friend Dante had always loved photography. So a few years ago we asked him to swing by our weddings before the guests got there to take some shots of our decor and details.  He did an awesome job, but it wasn't long before he was itching to shoot some people.  On a lark, he hung around one of our weddings (with the Principal photographers' permission) and got such a great shot of the first dance, it was selected by the Knot for Real Weddings.  Mayra and I were excited for him to pursue it and he actually ended up being a 2nd shooter for a few of our clients who were having artists friends as their principal.  Before long, Dante Williams Photography was born and he was out there getting all his own clients.  Today, I happened to be on his blog and saw this SHOWSTOPPING wedding he shot over the weekend for Erin and Mark and I had to share it with you.  They worked with R Cano catering and events, but I thought it was awesome.  Here are some of my favorite picks, the rest are on Dante's site......

We were sitting around the office missing one of our Bride's, Raquel, when it occurred to me that I never posted any of her BEAUTIFUL wedding photos shot by the wonderful Mel Barlow.  I had actually posted about this venue a while back, We utilized the Westside Loft for the ceremony and dinner dance, and Penthouse 15 for cocktails!
